    Mushrooms

Did you know that mushrooms are the onlyproduce in the world that naturally contains Vitamin D? Yep. There is a natural source of Vitamin D besides the sun! Given that mushroom are forest-floor, shade-loving fungi, it seems strange, but to me it’s affirming that there’s something magical about mushrooms. A single, large portobello mushroom contains 120% of your recommended daily allowance of Vitamin D. Their antioxidant punch, Vitamin B, potassium, and beta glucan (read: dietary fiber) content amps mushrooms’ value as a daily superfood. Leafy greens

The wonder food of wonder foods. This is where the 80/20 rule of balance is critical. If coffee is a part…

    Avocado

If you want a sure-fire bet, bet on me eating avocado today. This versatile fruit often gets categorized as a vegetable but regardless of how you classify it, this beauty can be halved, sliced, smashed, diced or dolloped as a side, condiment, or mix-in across each of the meals you eat in a day. When to eat: Daily I tend to eat anywhere from ¼ to a whole avocado each day. I stock up on them at the grocery store weekly. Classification: Non-organic In part because of their thick skins, pesticides have a hard time making their way into the fruit. At the rate I eat these green gems, I’m…
